Site Management and Guidance

My site coordination expertise was developed through direct, hands-on training. Serving as a site coordinator at the University of Chicago, immediately after earning my Master of Science from Rush University, I was swiftly immersed in the clinical development environment. In this initial role, I was tasked with scheduling assessments, entering data into an electronic database capture system, organizing source documents, and ensuring that the relevant data was reviewed by the appropriate staff. Despite being new to this realm, I embraced the challenge. Motivated to improve the onboarding process for new study coordinators, I proposed the creation of a training manual to the director.

Collaborating with a team of study coordinators from various departments, we successfully developed a comprehensive training manual. This manual was designed to guide both new and existing study coordinators, facilitating their onboarding process. Through this initiative, I gained a detailed intrinsic understanding of the myriad responsibilities and systems that study coordinators must navigate to ensure the successful execution of a clinical study at their site.
